Its culture is grounded in teamwork, humility, respect, accountability, adaptability, grit, and fun.

The company is pursuing an ambitious goal to double its business by 2027, and this role is part of that growth journey. It values people who are ready to build, improve, and push forward even when the path is challenging.

Role overview

Riverside is looking for a Junior Buyer for Indirect Procurement to support sourcing and buying activities across its facilities. This position partners closely with Maintenance, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams to keep goods and services flowing on time. The role includes purchase order handling, supplier data upkeep, inventory monitoring, supplier performance support, and cost-saving initiatives. It is a strong fit for an early-career procurement professional looking to deepen experience in purchasing and supplier management.

Key responsibilities

  • Procure indirect materials and services needed for plant operations, including areas such as Maintenance, Facilities, Operations, and Distribution.
  • Convert requisitions into purchase orders in SAP within 24 hours.
  • Oversee consumables inventory by managing cycle counts, minimum and maximum levels, and reorder triggers.
  • Monitor open orders, follow up on delays, and help resolve shortages before they affect operations.
  • Work with receiving teams and suppliers to ensure goods receipts are completed correctly.
  • Support accurate 3-way invoice matching and help resolve invoice issues with Accounts Payable.
  • Keep supplier master records current, including pricing, lead times, and delivery details.
  • Assist with supplier performance reviews and support corrective actions where improvement is needed.
  • Help with supplier selection and onboarding activities.
  • Negotiate and manage local supplier agreements covering pricing, quality, logistics, and service expectations.
  • Prepare spend analysis and procurement reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Identify alternative sourcing options that may improve cost, service, or reliability.
  • Carry out additional procurement-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 2 years of procurement experience, with indirect purchasing experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management capabilities.
  • Ability to juggle several priorities at once while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Comfort using MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with SAP ERP is considered an advantage.
  • A genuine interest in cost optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between facilities as required.

Compensation

The posted salary range for this position is CAD 60,000 to CAD 70,000 per year. Final pay will depend on experience, skills, education, training, and business needs, while also taking internal equity into account.

What Riverside expects

  • A values-driven mindset, with respect, teamwork, and resourcefulness at the forefront.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where some processes may need to be built while being used.
  • Confidence to speak up, share ideas, and interact across all levels of the organization.
  • A commitment to personal growth, continuous learning, and taking ownership of your development.
  • Appreciation for gratitude and the spirit of working together in a growing business.
  • Alignment with the company’s brand values by protecting product quality, availability, and customer experience in every decision.

What the company offers

  • A comprehensive benefits program with company-covered costs.
  • RRSP matching or 401(k) matching support.
  • Eligibility to join the Profit Sharing Plan.
  • Access to employee-led resource groups focused on mental health, sustainability, diversity, women, and LGBTQ+ rights.
