Job description

About Clasp

Clasp is building tools to simplify one of the most complicated areas in business: health insurance benefits. The company’s focus is to modernize and automate the full benefits journey so employers, employees, brokers, and platform partners can all have a smoother experience.

Founded in 2023, Clasp is backed by investors including Base10 Partners, Terrain, Conversion Capital, and SemperVirens. These firms have supported and scaled companies such as Ramp, Rippling, and Blend from early stages onward.

The challenge Clasp is tackling

Employers spend more than a trillion dollars each year on benefits, but over 85% of employees still find those benefits difficult to understand. That gap is largely driven by legacy systems, manual workflows, and the mistakes and delays they create.

What Clasp is building toward

  • Brokers can spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time advising clients.
  • Employers get a more efficient, customized benefits experience with stronger coverage and service, often at a lower cost.
  • Employees receive clearer, easier-to-access benefits information that improves satisfaction and engagement.
  • HR and payroll partners can broaden their offerings through embeddable solutions.

Role overview

This is one of Clasp’s earliest Business Operations & Strategy roles. You will own high-priority operational work across products from start to finish. The position is highly autonomous and hands-on: you will create processes where none exist, take the lead like a general manager for a new business line, partner with R&D to build scalable tooling, and step into product management responsibilities when a project needs that support.

The role offers broad ownership, significant responsibility, and the chance to shape how functions are built and scaled across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Handle critical operations across Clasp’s product areas, including benefits, ACA, 401(k), HSA, carrier integrations, and any new lines as they launch.
  • Design, document, and standardize new workflows so they can be repeated and eventually transferred to others.
  • Lead a new vertical end to end, including strategy, operations, and performance outcomes.
  • Step in as a product manager when needed by defining requirements, setting priorities, and coordinating delivery with Engineering.
  • Use data, spreadsheets, and models to determine priorities, estimate impact, and validate what is working.

Requirements

  • You take initiative, identify what needs attention, and push work forward without waiting for instructions.
  • You are comfortable with analysis, quantitative thinking, spreadsheets, and modeling, and can convert uncertainty into a clear recommendation.
  • You think in structured frameworks, can break an ambiguous problem into analysis and execution steps, and rely on first-principles reasoning.
  • You can lead across teams, influence internal and external stakeholders, and deliver projects even without direct authority.
  • You bring 2 to 5 years of experience from a demanding, high-caliber environment such as top consulting, banking or finance, a high-growth startup, or a similarly selective setting.
  • You operate with strong ownership, low ego, and a preference for building and shipping rather than only advising.

Preferred background

  • Experience in benefits, insurance, payroll, HR technology, fintech, or healthcare is a plus.
  • Exposure to management consulting, investment banking, finance, strategy and operations, BizOps, or chief of staff work is also valued.

Compensation and benefits

The company offers competitive pay based on experience and location. Benefits include fully covered health insurance, a $5,000 office budget, unlimited PTO, and other standard early-stage startup perks.

The base salary for this role is $100,000 to $140,000, plus meaningful early-stage equity. Final compensation will depend on experience and expertise and may differ from the stated range.
