Business Manager

Role overview

Briscoe Group is seeking an experienced retail leader to step into a Business Manager position in Queenstown. This is a leadership opportunity with a well-known New Zealand brand, overseeing a dual-brand retail operation across Rebel Sport and Briscoes. The role calls for someone who can move comfortably between strategic oversight and hands-on floor leadership, while guiding a management team toward strong commercial and customer outcomes.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of both sites, supporting managers, shaping a positive team culture, and ensuring the business operates efficiently and compliantly. The position is full time and follows a Tuesday to Saturday work pattern.

What you will do

• Guide, coach, and develop the team to consistently deliver an excellent customer experience.
• Drive sales performance and take ownership of the profit centre’s profit and loss.
• Lead from the front on the shop floor, giving constructive and encouraging feedback that strengthens performance.
• Oversee administration and audit requirements while keeping company policies and procedures on track.
• Protect stock integrity through strong inventory control and effective operational practices.
• Encourage participation in learning and development programmes across the business.
• Champion health and safety by maintaining a safe workplace for both staff and customers.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will be a capable retail manager with strong people leadership skills and solid operational experience. You should be comfortable balancing office-based responsibilities with time on the shop floor, and be ready to take on broader accountability in a fast-moving environment.

This role is best suited to someone with sound commercial judgement, strong communication and planning ability, and the confidence to make decisions using creative, strategic, and analytical thinking. A collaborative style, a self-starting mindset, and the ability to earn the trust of your team are important. Flexibility to work across a seven-day roster when needed is required.
