Job description
Company Context
Sibyl Co. runs a compact marketing and communications agency focused on serving clients in heavy industries. This client base comes with highly specialised demands, so the team’s edge lies in quickly understanding technical subject matter and turning it into work that feels credible while still driving commercial outcomes.
Although GUILD.sg has been operating for five years, it still does not have a website. Up to now, the agency has largely relied on other businesses in the group and has won most projects through referrals and word of mouth. It is now clear that this approach is leaving growth on the table, and the business is looking for a dedicated Business Lead to help scale GUILD.sg further.
This opportunity is well suited to someone who wants an entrepreneurial path. It is a chance to learn how to build and run a business, with room to make mistakes while working with someone else’s capital and customer base. The role comes with strong guidance, mentoring, substantial independence, access to the necessary tools and small budgets for experimentation, plus the chance to develop a senior network across different industries.
The Role
As Business Lead, you will gradually take charge of the agency’s work across several areas, including business development and sales, marketing and brand building, client and account management, operations and delivery, and overall financial performance.
This is not a narrow specialist position. It is a hands-on business-building role.
The ideal person will naturally look for ways to use automation and AI agents before adding headcount. The industries served by the agency are specialised and demanding, where accuracy and trustworthiness matter a great deal. Generic AI output is not sufficient. At the same time, these sectors typically spend conservatively on marketing, which creates a difficult but promising commercial environment.
What may appear challenging to some is viewed here as an opportunity. You will be expected to spot opportunities, win business, oversee delivery, refine processes, test ideas continuously, maintain high quality, and help influence the company’s future direction. Compensation includes a modest fixed salary along with significant upside through gross profit sharing.
The Right Candidate
The company places much more weight on capability than on educational background or previous job titles. To be considered, you should be able to show the following qualities:
- AI-enabled: You already use semi-autonomous agents, workflows, or automations in your work or daily life, and you actively explore both emerging and proven AI tools.
- Generalist: You think like a business operator and understand how companies work across multiple functions, such as sales, marketing, operations, and finance. Gaps are acceptable, but this is not suited to someone who only wants to stay within one narrow specialty.
- Technically literate: You do not need to be an engineer, but you must be able to quickly understand how industries, companies, and technologies function so you can hold your own in credible conversations with experienced industry leaders.
- Builder mindset: You have created things before, whether that means businesses, side projects, communities, products, newsletters, software tools, events, content platforms, experiments, or startups. Success is not required; what matters is that you have shown initiative and a preference for building over passively consuming.
- Singaporean or permanent resident: This requirement is mandatory.
Additional Notes
The role is based in Singapore and is fully onsite. The position is full time. No opening count, application deadline, start date, or fixed duration was specified.
