Job description
Company overview
Ezra builds B2B digital lending products for growing markets, working alongside mobile operators, wallet providers, and financial service partners. The company operates in 24 markets across 23 countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, with main offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Dubai, UAE.
Its core offerings include Airtime Credit Services (ACS), Nano, and BNPL. ACS gives prepaid users airtime or data credit when their balance is low. Nano offers mobile wallet users a small cash advance on demand. BNPL enables customers to pay for goods and services in installments.
As a technology-led fintech business, Ezra relies heavily on data across the full lending lifecycle, including customer eligibility checks, offer generation, risk handling, loan disbursement, recovery, performance tuning, reporting, reconciliation, and billing. The platform processes around 21 million loan requests and 1.4 TB of data every day, so reliability, security, and scalability are essential. The company is also exploring new ways to use platform and transactional data to improve existing products and create new ones.
Role overview
Ezra is hiring a Business Intelligence Specialist in Nairobi to join the Business Intelligence function. The team focuses on both internal and external reporting. In this role, you will work with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, assess whether those needs can be delivered, design solutions that fit the current reporting landscape, and then build and implement them. The position combines Python-based data pipeline work with Tableau-driven reporting and visualisation.
Key responsibilities
You will partner with business stakeholders to collect reporting requirements and turn them into working reports. You will also design, develop, deploy, and support ETL pipelines in Python, and spend a significant part of your time creating visualisations and reports in Tableau. In addition, you will recommend suitable statistical methods for measuring company KPIs and help assess new technologies for potential adoption.
Required experience and qualifications
The role calls for at least 2 years of professional experience. You should be comfortable working with Python or another scripting/programming language, and have advanced SQL skills. Experience with relational databases and performance tuning is needed, along with hands-on use of Git and Excel. You should also be familiar with Tableau report creation, Linux as both a user and developer, and the Windows environment from both a user and developer perspective. Debian familiarity is considered an advantage.
Preferred qualifications
Extra value will be given to candidates with deep PostgreSQL knowledge, exposure to software development best practices, Windows Server administration experience, Debian server setup and administration experience, working knowledge of Java or C/C++, container experience with Docker or similar tools, and strong familiarity with the Tableau ecosystem.
Additional information
The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya and reports to the Manager - Data Engineering & Architecture.
