Job description
Role overview
TBWA\New Zealand is hiring two Business Directors to help lead work for some of the country’s most well-known brands. These positions offer the chance to work across major client accounts, including Southern Cross, The Warehouse, and Tourism New Zealand.
You will work closely with the agency’s executive leadership, including the CEO and CCO, to shape bold, forward-looking brand platforms. In partnership with senior client stakeholders, you will help set strategic direction and identify fresh opportunities for growth.
Because these accounts are built on long-term trust, this role also gives you the chance to collaborate with highly experienced people both within TBWA and across the client side network.
What the role involves
The Business Director will own the everyday leadership of the accounts across strategic, creative, and commercial areas. You will need to understand the brands deeply, stay close to the client’s business challenges, and spot ways to expand the relationship and the work.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the strategy team to shape and deliver direction for all client projects.
- Advocate for outstanding creative work by actively creating space for it, backing it, and safeguarding it.
- Guide the account team on a day-to-day basis and coordinate all stakeholders to keep work high quality across every channel.
- Develop strong and influential relationships internally, with clients, and with important stakeholders while serving as a trusted agency leader.
- Oversee short- and long-term forecasts, ensure budgets are committed, and keep targets on track.
What you should bring
TBWA is looking for someone with at least six years of experience in a creative or advertising agency setting and a proven track record of building durable client partnerships. As a dependable business partner, you should give clear guidance, communicate openly and honestly, and help clients feel supported throughout the process.
You should be comfortable working closely with strategic and creative teams to build thoughtful briefs that connect brand ambition with strong creative output. Success in this job will suit someone who is practical, willing to get hands-on, positive in outlook, and excited about helping shape brands through the work they produce.
