Higgins Coatings is a family-owned commercial painting contractor with a 75+ year history and a strong presence across Australia. The business is known for delivering major commercial painting projects across the region.

About the Role

This position is focused on creating new business opportunities across the Hobart region. The successful candidate will spend time meeting prospects, understanding client needs, and offering practical solutions for commercial projects such as schools, hospitals, councils, retirement villages, and shopping centres. This is a true new-business role rather than account management, and it involves working closely with the Branch Manager and the wider team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build a healthy pipeline of new commercial opportunities across the Hobart territory.
  • Spend significant time travelling within the region to meet clients and inspect sites.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue prospects through research, phone outreach, site visits, and referrals.
  • Develop strong relationships with decision-makers and represent the business at networking and industry events.
  • Measure and scope projects for quoting, with training and support provided.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and tender submissions that are tailored to client needs.

Support and Working Style

You will not be working alone. The role includes support from a dedicated sales mentor, estimating and scoping training, and assistance with proposal preparation. The company also offers flexible working arrangements to help manage your week.

  • Regularly generating fresh opportunities and converting them through consistent follow-up and relationship building.
  • Creating long-term trust with key stakeholders and maintaining a professional presence in the market.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a self-driven sales professional with strong B2B solution-selling experience and a track record of winning new business. You should be comfortable researching prospects, building trust, influencing decisions, and working in a disciplined way toward targets. Experience in commercial painting, facilities maintenance, construction, or building is advantageous but not essential.
