Role overview
This contract Business Analyst opportunity in Toronto is centered on improving reconciliation controls and helping redesign processes that are currently underperforming. The role supports a fast-moving capital markets operations environment where the focus is on reducing gaps, strengthening controls, and making workflows more efficient.
What you will do
- Lead ongoing improvements to the present reconciliation process.
- Review the current reconciliation control workflow, use root-cause analysis to identify pain points, and help implement solutions that improve performance.
- Take ownership of changes needed to address root causes, using a risk-aware approach and practical, innovative methods across different business lines.
- Support reconciliation build and remediation work, including strategic initiatives and other projects, and act as the recon representative for new reconciliation items and enhancements.
- Carry out reconciliation build tasks by adding scripts and rules into the platform, then test the changes and assess any resulting impacts.
- Provide advisory input on reconciliation requests and help determine whether proposed builds are feasible.
- Build strong working relationships through clear communication and regular information sharing.
- Track project dependencies and risks so they are actively managed.
- Promote a culture of innovation focused on simpler, smarter ways of working.
Team and business context
You will be part of the Reconciliations Control Change team within a global operations and business services group that supports trading, investment, and corporate banking functions. The broader team partners with front-office and other global groups to manage risk, support the trade lifecycle, and contribute to process improvement, new product work, and control enhancements.

Required experience and capabilities
- Strong background in reconciliation work.
- Ability to work with data analysis, quality testing, and statistical reporting, including reviewing dashboards and presenting findings to management.
- Project management experience.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal ability and the confidence to work effectively with people at all levels.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, detail-heavy, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Ability to understand technical ideas, think independently, and bring forward practical options for issue resolution.
- Strong problem-solving, abstract thinking, and technical capability for building reconciliations with available tools.
- Ability to handle tight timelines, multiple priorities, and shifting demands.
- Solid knowledge of capital markets, including their functions and processes.
- Critical thinking and business analysis mindset, with an understanding of colleague and business needs.
- Ability to collaborate with affected groups to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
- Capacity to build and maintain the functional expertise needed to deliver the expected service level.
Preferred background
- Experience in capital markets.
- Working knowledge of Python.
- Working knowledge of SQL.
