Job description
Role overview
This position is for a senior business analyst focused on SWIFT-based cross-border payments and ISO 20022 migration work. Based in Navi Mumbai (Airoli) within the Information Technology department, the role centers on delivering strategic initiatives that improve business value, keep programmes compliant, and strengthen operational resilience. The assignment typically suits professionals with 5 to 10 years of experience and includes responsibility for requirement strategy, coordination with schemes and vendors, and communication with senior leadership on SWIFT programmes.
Core responsibilities
- Build and manage the SWIFT and ISO 20022 change plan, including MT to MX migration, new scheme capabilities, product enhancements for cross-border payments, and links with fraud, sanctions, and compliance platforms.
- Drive requirements gathering and documentation such as BRDs, FRDs, user stories, use cases, and current/future-state process flows for SWIFT MT/MX messages, payment engines, and connected systems.
- Own the business analysis lifecycle for SWIFT MT/MX and ISO 20022 work from discovery through delivery and post-launch stabilization.
- Facilitate requirement workshops with Operations, Business, Compliance, Risk, Treasury, and IT teams, and convert discussions into structured business documents and process maps.
- Carry out MT-to-MX mapping and gap assessments, and record downstream effects on channels, payment hubs, core banking, sanctions/fraud controls, and reconciliation tools.
- Work with architects and vendors on solution design for SWIFT connectivity, payment engines, and integration points.
- Define acceptance criteria, help shape test cases, review execution results, and sign off on business functionality and data quality, including enriched ISO 20022 data.
- Support incident and change handling for SWIFT/ISO 20022 scope through root-cause analysis, remediation inputs, and stakeholder communication materials.
- Monitor scheme and regulatory updates affecting SWIFT and ISO 20022, and maintain an impact register together with the delivery roadmap.
- Explain scope, risks, dependencies, and timelines to senior management and steering committees, while managing priorities and the backlog effectively.
Experience and knowledge expected
The role calls for strong knowledge of end-to-end cross-border payment processing, including cut-offs, charges, investigations, returns, and compliance checkpoints such as AML, sanctions, and fraud. Practical exposure to MT/MX migration, pacs/pain/camt message families, and coexistence or transition windows is important.
Documentation and working style
Candidates should be comfortable leading workshops, negotiating priorities, preparing traceability matrices, and producing clear analytical and process documentation. The role also expects hands-on use of business analysis tools and methods, including BPMN, data mapping, user story and backlog management, and requirements traceability.
Education
A full-time degree in B.Tech, B.Sc, M.Sc, M.Tech, BCA, or MCA is required.
Communication
Excellent communication skills are necessary, along with proven experience presenting to senior management and external stakeholders.
