Role overview
This contract Business Analyst opportunity is based in Oakland, CA and runs from June 18, 2026 through October 30, 2026. The arrangement is hybrid, with on-site presence required once per week in Oakland or Sacramento.
Key responsibilities
- Review moderately complex data models and choose the most appropriate reports and data sources to support analysis.
- Identify information needs, gather relevant data, and apply the right analytical methods to produce useful outcomes.
- Build monthly actual cost invoices using SAP reports and the terms of the contract.
- Interpret business requirements, create new reports, and handle custom or ad hoc reporting independently while sharing results with different audiences.
- Carry out basic research using both internal and external sources.
- Work with colleagues inside and outside the department to exchange information, contribute ideas, and take part in project teams.
Education and experience
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is required, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of related professional experience is required.
Desired knowledge and capabilities
- Working knowledge of analytical approaches, methods, and techniques.
- Strong grasp of core analysis and what-if modeling, including how changing variables can influence business results.
- Strong qualitative and quantitative reasoning abilities.
- Prior invoicing experience.
- Strong organization, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
- Comfort working in changing, uncertain, or ambiguous business situations.
- Effective presentation and communication skills.
- Hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, or similar tools.
Technical strengths
- Advanced ability in information analysis, metrics tracking, and KPI reporting.
- Solid experience with market research, consulting-style work, and project management.
- Working knowledge of operational monitoring and analysis, advocacy and persuasion, and presentation delivery.
