Job description

About Clio

Clio is a global legal AI company that helps lawyers and legal teams of all sizes operate more efficiently, work faster, and stay secure. The company’s mission is to improve the legal experience by supporting legal professionals and expanding access to justice.

Role overview

Clio is looking for a Brand Designer to join its Creative team and contribute to the ongoing development of the brand. This position suits someone who values strong craft, works with purpose, and wants their design work to have impact beyond a single assignment.

This opportunity is open to candidates based in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll handle both structured production work and concept-driven brand design. You’ll own projects from the initial brief through final quality check, and your work will appear across Clio’s global brand, campaigns, and expanding set of sub-brands.

  • Create brand assets and concepts for a variety of channels, including advertising, social content, case studies, presentations, experiential work, and more.
  • Manage projects end to end, from intake and concept development through final QA and delivery.
  • Refine and extend Clio’s visual identity while keeping the brand consistent across touchpoints.
  • Build new visual identities and design systems for Clio sub-brands.
  • Support marketing, demand generation, and event communication needs with polished design solutions.
  • Work closely with creative leads and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality work quickly and reliably.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate combines structured thinking with strong creative instincts. You should be comfortable protecting brand standards while also helping evolve them. Experience in a fast-paced in-house environment is important, along with an eye for detail and the ability to maintain quality across work of any size.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in brand design, either in an agency or in-house setting.
  • A portfolio showing breadth across brand systems, campaign design, and multi-channel work.
  • Hands-on experience with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Comfort using AI design tools such as Midjourney, Krea, or similar tools in the creative process.
  • Strong storyboarding and visual storytelling ability, including the ability to sell an idea before execution begins.
  • Excellent communication and prioritization skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining craft standards.

Nice-to-have experience

  • Experience creating or scaling brand design systems.
  • Background in SaaS, legal technology, or another regulated and complex industry.
  • Comfort with presentation design tools such as Keynote and Google Slides for executive or event use.
  • A strong interest in typography and attention to type detail.

Compensation and benefits

Compensation is a key part of Clio’s Total Rewards approach, which is designed to support fair and competitive pay practices.

  • Competitive, equitable pay.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Hybrid working setup, with local employees expected in the office at least two days per week.
  • Flexible time off, with an encouraged 20 days off each year.
  • $2,000 annual counseling benefit.
  • RRSP matching and RESP contribution.
  • Clioversary recognition at 3, 5, 7, and 10 years.

Compensation range

The expected salary for this position is CAD 71,500 to CAD 96,700, with a midpoint of CAD 84,100. Final compensation will depend on region, relevant experience, and skills. Clio notes that employees who are new to the role may start below the midpoint, while experienced team members are often hired near the midpoint. The top of the range is generally reserved for sustained high performance and impact.
