Role overview

The Branch Head will be responsible for steering the assigned branch through strong planning, resource management, and sales execution. The role focuses on meeting agreed business goals, expanding market share, building brand equity, and achieving results in a cost-efficient way.

Business challenges

  • Delivering results in a market affected by unethical selling practices.
  • Keeping a high-performing sales team intact despite intense competition.
  • Maintaining the quality of newly added advisors, even though not every recruit can be met individually.
  • Helping new advisors build the right product and process knowledge, especially when training attendance is weak.

Key responsibilities

  • Design branch sales plans and deliver targets across agent count, productivity, new premium, and business persistency.
  • Review market trends, competition, and growth opportunities, and coordinate branch plans with head office.
  • Shape the right product mix, identify potential customers, support contests, and provide investment advisory to clients.
  • Execute plans effectively and track progress to make sure objectives are achieved.
  • Improve field-force productivity through active people management and regular engagement.
  • Arrange ongoing training for advisors and share the latest company inputs with them.
  • Discuss promotional support and review advisor progress on competition, activation, and club membership.
  • Build productive work habits, run performance-improvement initiatives, and organize focused training sessions.
  • Protect persistency by conducting random quality reviews of sourced business.
  • Ensure timely post-sales service so customers stay engaged and retained.
  • Maintain financial discipline in the branch and control revenue leakage.
  • Keep cash handling under strict control and ensure spending stays within budget for capital and operating expenses.
  • Ensure complete compliance for smooth branch operations and stronger productivity.
  • Track process adherence and keep the sales and operations teams updated on underwriting rules, IRDA guidelines, and sales process changes.
  • Plan and execute sales and recruitment promotions to support business achievement.
  • Work with head office teams to implement central initiatives.
  • Make sure promotional efforts reach both existing and prospective customers effectively.
  • Recommend product, process, service, and people improvements based on customer feedback.
  • Oversee branch administration so operations remain smooth, efficient, and cost-effective.

Requirements

  • Strong branch leadership and team management ability.
  • Experience in sales strategy, target achievement, and field-force productivity improvement.
  • Working knowledge of advisor training, performance review, and recruitment quality control.
  • Ability to ensure persistency, compliance, and service quality in an insurance or financial services environment.
  • Comfort with branch administration, budgeting, and cash control.
  • Capability to coordinate with head office teams and manage promotional activities.
