Role Overview
Ajuria Lawyers is looking for a meticulous and highly organised Bookkeeper to support its finance operations in Sydney. This position suits someone who works well in a busy setting, handles large numbers of transactions confidently, and has a strong eye for accuracy. The successful candidate will help keep financial records up to date and contribute to the company’s everyday accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process and match a large volume of financial transactions in an efficient manner.
- Look after accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.
- Complete reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and the general ledger.
- Keep financial records and supporting paperwork organised and current.
- Help with month-end reporting and account reconciliation work.
- Track unpaid balances and resolve any mismatches or variances.
- Follow company rules, internal controls, and accounting procedures.
- Communicate with internal teams and outside suppliers on account-related issues.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant should bring prior experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting position, along with the ability to manage high-volume processing without sacrificing accuracy. Strong numerical ability, excellent organisation, and solid time management are essential. You should also be comfortable working both on your own and collaboratively, and be able to communicate clearly with others.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated background in bookkeeping or a comparable accounting role.
- Hands-on experience handling large transaction volumes accurately and efficiently.
- High attention to detail and a consistent focus on maintaining correct records.
- Strong ability to spot inconsistencies and resolve them quickly.
- Good organisational and time management capabilities.
- Proficiency with accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, or similar software.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Preferred Background
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience in a fast-moving commercial environment.
- Working knowledge of GST, BAS, and payroll processes.
