Job description
Role Overview
This is a short-term contract opportunity for a STEM Biology specialist who will work remotely on task-based assignments. The engagement runs for 3 months and is centered on creating and evaluating challenging biology problems that help test the limits of large language models.
Compensation is $250 for each task completed. The role requires at least 4 hours of work per day, with a maximum commitment of 40 hours per week, and the schedule must include 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.
What You Will Do
- Create and solve advanced biology questions designed to stress-test large language models.
- Build precise, step-by-step solutions with clear reasoning and strong scientific rigor.
- Work with LLM researchers to match question types to evaluation objectives, especially where models are typically weak.
- Help shape new assessment benchmarks using biology topics from early undergraduate level through PhD-level material.
- Tackle difficult biology problems through a systematic and logical problem-solving approach.
- Communicate biology concepts in a simple, accessible way, using visuals or simulations when useful.
- Offer thoughtful feedback and detailed annotations for AI evaluation processes.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline, or current enrollment in a PhD/Postdoctoral program.
- Strong capability in research and analytical thinking.
- Ability to provide detailed feedback and careful annotations.
- Creative thinking and the ability to approach problems laterally.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote work environment.
- Comfort working independently with strong self-motivation.
- Access to a desktop or laptop and a dependable internet connection.
- Skill in breaking down and solving complex biological questions in a structured way.
- Ability to explain biology clearly through plain language and, when needed, visual or simulation-based support.
- A LinkedIn profile must be included in the resume.
- Background verification will be conducted after onboarding.
Application Process
Applicants must first submit the application and then monitor email for the form. The next steps include completing a Google form and, if shortlisted, finishing an assessment link within 24 hours.
