Role Overview
This position sits within a major airport development program in Riyadh. The BIM/GIS Manager will report to the PMIS Manager and lead digital delivery efforts on a large, complex project. The role focuses on improving how project information is managed, coordinated, automated, and delivered across teams and stakeholders.
Project Context
The assignment supports a landmark international airport development in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project is part of a long-running portfolio of complex airport programs and includes major terminal developments with substantial passenger and cargo capacity targets. The work location is Riyadh, with a full-time office/project setup. International single relocation is authorized.
Key Accountabilities
The manager will help shape the project’s information management approach, guide BIM and GIS coordination, and support the implementation of digital workflows. The role also includes leading assessments, encouraging adoption of better work processes, and driving automation initiatives that improve project performance.
- Lead workshops with the customer, partners, and stakeholders to define and implement the project information management strategy and plan.
- Prepare Exchange Information Requirements, Asset Information Requirements, and BIM/GIS management plans aligned with project delivery and handover needs.
- Create standard contractual wording to cascade information requirements to consultants, contractors, and AEC parties during tender and RFP stages.
- Own and update the Information Management and BIM Execution Plan so it complies with project needs and relevant standards such as ISO 19650, BS 1192, OGC, and NATSPEC.
- Oversee the configuration, rollout, and upkeep of the Common Data Environment, including related workflows, procedures, and controls for dependable information exchange.
- Set up dashboards to track BIM/GIS use cases across design, construction, and geospatial coordination activities.
- Visit sites to support BIM and GIS discussions, encourage adoption of CDE workflows, and assist with execution.
- Design and deliver training for project teams on BIM and GIS tools, processes, and workflows.
- Develop documentation, templates, and guidance material to standardize BIM/GIS processes, data handling, and CDE use.
- Review BEP and GIS data management plan implementation regularly, capturing lessons learned and identifying improvements.
- Contribute to naming, coding, work breakdown, asset tagging, and document numbering structures in line with customer and project rules.
- Create process maps and data flows that support BIM-to-GIS interoperability and digital delivery.
- Support integration of GIS data models with BIM models so that georeferenced assets and 3D models remain consistent.
- Manage GIS layers, basemaps, spatial datasets, coordinate systems, and metadata for planning, coordination, visualization, and reporting.
- Work with the customer and project teams to define geospatial standards, coordinate systems, and metadata governance.
- Ensure BIM and GIS outputs align with the customer’s enterprise GIS environment and asset management systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or an international equivalent is required.
- 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, or 12 to 14 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong problem-solving ability in integrated project delivery and information environments.
- Clear strength in technical writing, communication, and negotiation.
- Hands-on knowledge of BIM platforms and tools such as ACC/BIM360, Civil3D, Revit, Synchro, Navisworks, Infraworks, and Rhino.
- Working proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS products, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise, along with tools such as QGIS and FME.
- Solid understanding of ISO 19650 information management principles and framework.
- Exposure to engineering, construction, contracts, and project controls processes, with awareness of customer-specific requirements.
- Experience supporting procurement and tender cycles from concept through RFP, bid evaluation, selection, negotiation, and execution.
- Background in project standards, class libraries, master data management, and GIS data models on large projects.
- Experience creating data management execution strategies, configuration control methods, and BIM-GIS interoperability approaches.
- Ability to work with off-project BIM/GIS functional teams for training, knowledge sharing, and lessons learned.
- Experience linking BIM/3D models with schedules for 4D simulation and using GIS datasets for spatial visualization, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to support BIM and GIS coordinators, including third-party AEC consultants, design firms, and subcontractors.
- Experience handling GIS datasets, basemaps, layers, coordinate systems, and metadata in line with project and enterprise standards.
- Ability to build dashboards and visualizations that combine BIM and GIS data for monitoring and reporting.
