Job description

Role overview

Included Health is hiring a Billing Specialist to join the accounts receivable function with a strong emphasis on recurring billing work, cash application, credit support, collections follow-up, client reconciliations, and related operational requests. The position focuses on day-to-day accounting tasks and routine processes, while more complex customer matters are escalated to the appropriate partners.

The ideal candidate is someone with early professional experience in billing, accounts receivable, or finance operations who is organized, detail-focused, and comfortable collaborating across teams and working efficiently in spreadsheets and multiple systems.

What you'll do

  • Prepare regular customer invoices accurately and within the expected timeline, following contract terms and established billing schedules.
  • Carry out initial invoice checks to help maintain accuracy across standard and recurring billing workflows.
  • Post customer payments and credits correctly, helping reduce unapplied cash and outstanding reconciliation items.
  • Track account balances and follow up on overdue invoices as part of routine collections activity.
  • Investigate common billing concerns, payment differences, and account questions, escalating more complicated cases when required.
  • Complete client account reconciliations when needed.
  • Assist with credit memo handling and general account maintenance in a timely, accurate way.
  • Work closely with Customer Success, Revenue Accounting, Rev Ops, Data, and other internal teams to remove billing blockers and support invoicing and collections resolution.
  • Check billing outputs against customer-specific rules, support files, and source data to catch inconsistencies before invoices are issued.
  • Keep clear records of billing support activity, follow-ups, and account actions to support traceability and continuity.
  • Look for repeated issues and help improve processes that strengthen billing timeliness, account accuracy, and collections results.
  • Handle ad hoc reports and project tasks as assigned.

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • About 1 to 3 years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, cash application, collections, or another finance operations role.
  • Background in a high-volume environment with recurring deadlines and strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of invoice creation, reconciliations, payment posting, collections support, and issue resolution.
  • High accuracy in manual and exception-based processes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow up professionally with customers and collaborate effectively internally.
  • Strong organization and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving setting.
  • Intermediate Excel ability and comfort using spreadsheets and several systems.
  • ERP exposure is preferred, and Workday experience is a plus.

Compensation

The base pay for this full-time role is $22.79 to $29.83 per hour in the United States. This range represents the portion of the internal salary band currently funded for new hires across standard labor markets (Zones A-C).

Examples of included markets are Zone A (Phoenix, AZ; San Antonio, TX; Columbus, OH; Charlotte, NC), Zone B (Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; San Diego, CA; Houston, TX), and Zone C (Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Washington, D.C.; Boston, MA). The company is not budgeting for hires in higher-cost Zone D markets such as the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, or San Jose for this role. Final pay depends on location, skills, experience, and internal equity, with compensation structured by geographic zone and labor market data.

The exact starting salary may also reflect education, training, certifications, licensure, experience depth, organizational needs, and peer equity. The recruiter can provide your geographic zone if needed.
