Role overview
This position supports the HR function across the employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, training, benefits, records management, leave administration, payroll support, and compliance with applicable government and employment regulations. The role involves regular interaction with employees at all levels in a confidential, tactful, and professional setting, while also helping reinforce a workplace culture centered on teamwork, play, curiosity, respect, accountability, and boldness.
Key responsibilities
- Support recruiting activities by posting roles, handling applicant responses, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer letters.
- Lead new hire orientation and make sure all onboarding forms and HR documents are completed correctly and on time.
- Complete employment eligibility checks for all new hires through the federal E-Verify system.
- Process employee action paperwork for hires, promotions, transfers, and compensation updates.
- Help administer benefits, including enrollment for new hires and open enrollment, plus other benefit changes.
- Maintain both paper and digital employee records, update HRIS data, and keep personnel files current and accurate.
- Prepare separation paperwork and exit packets, and conduct exit interviews when employees leave.
- Assist with protected leave administration, including documentation and tracking.
- Support timekeeping administration and payroll processing tasks.
- Monitor and order office supplies to support the physical office location.
- Distribute and display required employment law posters.
- Assist the Safety Committee with documentation and training-related support.
- Coordinate employee engagement activities and programs.
- Take on additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are mandatory.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and standard HR practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort presenting onboarding content and delivering employee training.
- High attention to detail with fast and accurate data entry ability.
- Ability to explain and apply company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Capable of handling several priorities and deadlines at the same time.
- Ability to draft HR documents and reports accurately and on schedule.
- Strong analytical thinking and sound independent judgment for problem-solving.
- Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Ability to safeguard sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using payroll and HR software.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in a human resources role.
- Recruiting support experience is preferred.
- At least 2 years of college education, ideally in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- A mix of education, training, and experience may also be considered.
- Must be able to sit for long periods while working at a computer.
- Requires extended screen time, typing, talking, and listening.
