Job description

Role overview

An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is hiring an experienced Bid Writer to support its continued expansion. This permanent, full-time position is based in the Glasgow office and sits within a busy pre-construction team. The role focuses on creating strong bid and tender responses for complex infrastructure and energy work, while partnering closely with technical, commercial, and operational colleagues.

What you'll do

  • Take the lead on preparing persuasive bids and tender documents, while also assisting with wider submission activity.
  • Write concise, polished content that aligns with client instructions and project needs.
  • Bring together information from technical, commercial, and operational teams to build complete submissions.
  • Check that all materials are accurate, compliant, and submitted on time against tight deadlines.
  • Edit and improve bid copy to keep the final output consistent, professional, and high quality.
  • Build and maintain a reusable content bank that includes standard answers, project examples, and case studies.
  • Help strengthen bid procedures and raise the overall quality of future submissions.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in bid writing, proposals, or tendering, ideally within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or energy.
  • Excellent writing ability with the skill to turn technical detail into clear and convincing language.
  • Strong accuracy and careful attention to detail.
  • Good organisation and the ability to handle several deadlines at once in a fast-moving setting.
  • Confident stakeholder communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience on large infrastructure or engineering projects would be a strong advantage.
