About the Role

The Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, an Autograph by Marriott property set in the Canadian Rockies, is seeking a Bell Person to help deliver a polished arrival and departure experience for guests and visitors. This position is based in Kananaskis, Alberta, and subsidized staff housing is available. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys guest interaction, works well under pressure, and takes pride in creating memorable service moments.

The position offers $18.00 per hour plus gratuities.

Key Duties

  • Ensure guests receive a smooth and welcoming experience when arriving at and leaving the resort.
  • Provide consistently courteous, professional, and attentive service.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to guest requests and concerns.
  • Build friendly rapport with guests to understand expectations and identify opportunities to exceed them.
  • Park and retrieve guest vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with delivery of guest luggage and room items.
  • Operate guest shuttle services to nearby attractions.
  • Use strong local knowledge of Kananaskis Valley and the surrounding area to recommend activities, make bookings, and enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of public spaces, including the lobby and main entrance.
  • Work closely with other departments such as Housekeeping, Engineering, Conference Services, and Accounting.
  • Follow all safety and emergency procedures.

Experience, Skills, and Requirements

  • Proven customer service experience is required.
  • Hospitality or Tourism diploma is considered an advantage.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while handling multiple tasks.
  • Able to lift and carry guest luggage and other items as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a consistent focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Computer literate with experience using Windows and the internet.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety and maintaining a secure work environment.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Available to work variable shifts.
  • Must hold an Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License; a Class 5 licence is required, and a Class 4 licence is preferred for shuttle operations.
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle is an asset.

Physical Demands

  • Extended periods of standing and walking in a busy luxury hospitality setting.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of luggage, parcels, and equipment, typically weighing 25 to 50 lbs.
  • Handling loaded luggage carts weighing about 50 lbs through lobbies, elevators, corridors, and guest floors.
  • Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching while loading and unloading baggage and organizing bell storage areas.
  • Work may involve outdoor exposure in different weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Must follow safe lifting practices and occupational health and safety standards.
