Baker - 3:30am start - Full Time

About the Role

At COBS Bread, this position is part of a team focused on creating fresh, high-quality baked goods for the community each day. The bakery starts empty and is transformed into a full selection of artisan bread and treats before opening. This opportunity is suited to someone who is enthusiastic, curious, and ready to contribute, even without prior baking experience, as long as they have the right mindset and a willingness to learn.

Day-to-Day Work

• Collaborate with a small crew each morning to prepare baked goods using set recipes.
• Help maintain a clean and well-run bakery while supporting a positive customer experience.
• Read production plans and recipes, measure and combine ingredients, shape dough, and manage items through the ovens.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an early morning person who can work alone when needed or as part of a close-knit team. A strong sense of pride in the bakery’s contribution to the community, a positive attitude, and good organization are important. You should also be committed to your own growth, the success of the team, and the overall success of the bakery.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 22 kg.
• Regular turning and reaching movements.
• Occasional pushing, pulling, and forward bending.
• Ability to lift at least 2.5 kg to a height of 1.7 meters.
• Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, plus occasional forceful gripping.
