Job description

Position Summary

The Automotive Mechanic role focuses on accurately inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing tire and vehicle service issues while creating a strong customer experience. This position requires clear communication of technical findings and repair needs to both customers and colleagues. The mechanic must stay current with evolving automotive technology by regularly learning new methods and procedures, complete work to required specifications, mentor team members, and keep the workspace clean and safe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify faults and complete repairs to specification across brake and hydraulic systems, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling, suspension, and alignment, along with all routine maintenance tasks.
  • Carry out the duties expected of lower-level roles, including General Service Technician tasks.
  • Translate technical diagnosis and repair recommendations into plain language for customers and non-technical staff when needed.
  • Take part in ongoing training to remain up to date with new tools, techniques, and automotive technologies.
  • Support other technicians and mechanics with technical work as required.
  • Inform store leadership about repair issues as they arise.
  • Keep the shop orderly and well maintained.
  • Follow company rules, procedures, and all safety and environmental standards.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without help.
  • Frequent standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Regular reaching above the head and below the knees, plus squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Fine motor control needed to use tools safely.
  • Ability to climb ladders to retrieve items.
  • Clear communication skills for in-person, phone, and telecom use.
  • Ability to enter and find information on a computer.
  • Capability to verify small-print information visually.
  • Ability to safely drive a motor vehicle.

Compensation and Additional Details

  • Flat-rate pay between $19.33 and $31.20, depending on experience
  • Guaranteed up to 20 labor hours per week
  • Company-funded ASE certifications
