About the Role

Toppan Merrill is looking for an Automation Test Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Cypress and BDD using Cucumber. This role is focused on building reliable automated test coverage, running tests, and helping ensure smooth delivery of high-quality products.

Role Overview

The position is for a full-time hybrid role based in Chennai, India. The expected experience level is 4 to 6 years, and the annual compensation range mentioned is INR 7,00,000 to INR 16,00,000.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, improve, and support automation test scripts using Cypress with BDD/Cucumber.
  • Run test scenarios, review outcomes, and prepare clear test reports.
  • Carry out API automation testing with Cypress.
  • Investigate failures, isolate root causes, and resolve issues in both the application and automation code.
  • Manage regression testing activities and track defects through closure.
  • Take part in pull request reviews and wider quality assurance checks.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum setup.
  • Validate compatibility across different browsers.

Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in automation testing, including script development, execution, analysis, and reporting.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience with Cypress and BDD using Cucumber.
  • Strong background in API automation testing with Cypress.
  • Good working knowledge of Git and Bitbucket.
  • Strong understanding of both manual and automated testing practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot regression defects and analyze failures effectively.
  • Familiarity with web, Windows, and mobile application testing.
  • Exposure to Agile and Scrum-based delivery methods.
  • Experience planning and executing cross-browser test coverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as within a team.
