Job description

Role overview

This position is responsible for leading inspection services operations and quality assurance activities for SgurrEnergy. The role covers process setup, coordination with internal teams and clients, report review, technical documentation, training, and ongoing control of inspection standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the administration and day-to-day operations of inspection services, including creating, implementing, and maintaining the required systems and procedures.
  • Work with HR to develop training material and conduct training for inspection personnel, both within SgurrEnergy and for external teams. Provide technical training as needed and assess the performance of technical staff.
  • Coordinate with clients, the Quality Manager, and QC Engineers/Associate QC Engineers to ensure inspections are carried out in line with the inspection system designed under ISO 17020 requirements.
  • Evaluate the competence of QC Engineers, maintain inspection profiles and records, and share relevant input with the Quality Manager and HR for future staffing needs.
  • Check inspection reports prepared by QC Engineers/Associate QC Engineers to confirm alignment with customer expectations, quality requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Support management in preparing quotations by following contract review procedures and examining RFQs and related documents.
  • Create assignment sheets and allocate suitably qualified QC Engineers for inspection work.
  • Keep records current for inspector/QC engineer contracts, confidentiality agreements, and client documents.
  • Work with the Quality Manager on routine activities such as inspection report review and certificates of conformity.
  • Draft or review inspection acceptance criteria when needed in consultation with the client and Quality Manager.
  • Review and approve inspection reports, NCRs, and other system forms developed for the process.
  • Take part in complaint and appeal reviews within a fair framework that avoids any conflict of interest.
  • Communicate with clients and consultants on technical matters and support contract review discussions with the Quality Manager.
  • Assist other technical managers with operational needs and system development initiatives.
  • Identify the need for technical procedures, coordinate with the relevant technical managers to develop them, and support approval for implementation.
  • Help the Quality Manager close out complaints and appeals actions and escalate matters to management when necessary.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation for inspection services as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Safeguard service quality across all activities delivered by SgurrEnergy.
  • Ensure proper supervision of inspectors, including trainees, while they are on the job.
  • Make sure the team understands how their work contributes to the objectives of the inspection body’s management system.
  • Handle non-conforming work, including approving restart of work when appropriate, and report inspection anomalies to the Quality Manager.
  • Ensure that all relevant standards, specifications, and guidelines are available to the right personnel, especially for electrical equipment.
  • Lead training and mentoring of QC Engineers for key electrical components.
  • Own the preparation of technical documents, SOPs, and QAPs related to key electrical components.
  • Maintain data integrity throughout the inspection process and during on-site witnessing.

Requirements

  • B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Practical experience in solar quality, BOS, quality assurance, and FAT activities.
