- Carry out quantitative reviews of hedge fund managers and portfolios, including performance, risk, correlation, exposure, attribution, and drawdown analysis.
- Help track portfolio liquidity, cash activity, and subscription/redemption movements.
- Assist in building portfolio risk reports and related analysis for investment staff and senior leadership.
- Check that data used in analysis and reporting is accurate, complete, and consistent.
Investment due diligence
- Support quantitative due diligence on potential hedge fund investments.
- Join meetings with prospective and current hedge fund managers, prepare thorough notes, and circulate them to the team.
- Review manager returns, portfolio traits, peer comparisons, and risk measures.
- Help onboard new hedge fund investments and keep investment records current in internal systems.
- Assist with ongoing oversight of existing managers and portfolio positions.
Reporting and communication
- Prepare recurring and one-off reports, presentations, and investment materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support quarterly letters, portfolio reviews, investment committee packages, and client-facing communications.
- Maintain a high standard of precision, consistency, and presentation quality in all shared materials.
- Handle routine questions about portfolio performance, holdings, and reporting data.
Data and vendor management
- Maintain hedge fund databases, reporting tools, and analytical systems.
- Reconcile and validate information from multiple internal and external sources.
- Work with third-party data suppliers and technology vendors to keep information timely and reliable.
- Support testing, rollout, and upgrades of analytics and reporting platforms.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Partner with investment, finance, operations, compliance, and client-facing teams.
- Support portfolio management work and help keep information consistent across departments.
- Contribute to special assignments and strategic initiatives when needed.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a closely related field is required. The ideal candidate will have about 0 to 3 years of experience in asset management, hedge funds, investment consulting, fund administration, performance reporting, investment banking, equity research, or a similar area.
Strong analytical and quantitative ability is essential, along with a solid understanding of financial markets, investment concepts, and portfolio analytics. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are expected. Experience with financial databases and analytics tools is preferred.
Exposure to large language models and AI tools for research, analysis, reporting, or operations is a plus. Familiarity with Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI, or similar tools is also advantageous. Progress toward the CFA or CAIA designation is considered a plus.
Preferred characteristics
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Curiosity about hedge fund strategies and alternative investments.
- Strong organization and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
