Role overview
B Capital is hiring a pre-MBA Associate to join its Healthcare AI team. This person will support the full investment lifecycle for opportunities ranging from Series A through growth equity. The role centers on identifying promising healthcare investments through research-led sourcing, studying markets and sector movements, assessing deals, and performing detailed business and financial due diligence, including advanced modeling. The work spans healthtech and digital health. A strong finance foundation, familiarity with AI, and the ability to translate ideas into action are important for success.
What you will do
- Build market research and investment theses that inform sourcing priorities.
- Identify potential investments using the team’s themes and research findings.
- Track AI developments and trends in healthcare.
- Review incoming investment materials and judge whether opportunities look viable.
- Take ownership of major parts of diligence and transaction work such as audit, tax, legal, and financial modeling.
- Support portfolio companies across a range of operating needs.
- Use the firm’s and BCG’s networks to help portfolio companies connect with high-value customers.
What the firm is looking for
- A strong interest in disruptive technology.
- 1-3+ years of relevant experience preferred, such as healthcare investment banking or finance/business development work in an operating role.
- An undergraduate degree in economics, data science, biology, biomedical engineering, biology-focused engineering, biochemistry, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability.
- VC or PE experience is not mandatory, though it would be an advantage; finance experience is highly valued.
- Comfort with relocating to San Francisco or being based there already.
- Availability for a hybrid setup with 3 days per week in the San Francisco office.
Key capabilities
- Strong analytical judgment and natural curiosity, especially around emerging technologies.
- Ability to understand market dynamics and spot investable trends, particularly AI-driven approaches.
- Skill in turning complex ideas into clear, concise slides and written materials.
- Experience with detailed financial modeling, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis, plus valuation comparisons.
- Exposure to venture capital fundamentals such as cap tables, returns modeling, and standard venture terms is helpful.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to help shape new investments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, sound business judgment, and a strong work ethic.
