Since 1969, the company has supported work in energy transition, infrastructure resilience, digital transformation, and sustainability. Team members collaborate directly with clients on challenging projects that may involve remote infrastructure design, renewable energy work, or data-driven improvements for mining and water systems.

The company does not consider unsolicited resumes from third-party recruiters.

Role Summary

RESPEC is hiring an Associate GIS Consultant to join its Data and Technology Services team in Denver, CO. This position focuses on geospatial data management, spatial analysis, cartography, and end-to-end GIS solution delivery. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in GIS principles, can work independently on assigned tasks, and is comfortable using Esri tools to build web apps, publish feature services, and support client needs.

This role also values scripting and automation skills that improve GIS efficiency and scale, including Arcade, Python, and related libraries. Experience with asset management workflows, spatially enabled inventories, data quality improvements, and GIS integration with operational systems is especially valuable. Candidates with advanced GIS training, such as a Master of GIS, are particularly well suited for the position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with GIS teammates to deliver complex geospatial solutions based on project needs.
  • Partner with project managers and technical leads to estimate the effort required for upcoming assignments.

  • Interacting directly with clients to gather requirements and present demonstrations.
  • Managing GIS work independently, including dataset design and spatial analysis using vector and raster data.
  • Creating practical geospatial solutions that align with business and operational objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • At least a BA/BS in GIS, Geography, or a comparable field of study and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional GIS experience showing increasing independence and exposure to operational GIS applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of Esri tools, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Proven ability to perform spatial analysis, including complex vector and raster workflows, and apply results to real-world planning, operations, or asset management work.
  • Experience using Python to automate geospatial processes.
  • Ability to use Arcade in ArcGIS Pro, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Web Maps, and similar tools.
  • Understanding of geospatial data management in relational databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS or SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with open-source GIS software and tools for solving spatial problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of GIS degree preferred.
  • Background supporting asset management programs, including inventories, data governance, inspection or condition workflows, and integration with enterprise asset management systems.
  • FAA Part 107 Drone License and exposure to imagery and LiDAR derivative products.
  • Experience applying GIS in engineering contexts.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, ETLs, and GET/POST requests.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Experience Builder Developer Edition and custom JavaScript widget development.
  • Comfort setting up an IDE for efficient software development.
  • Strong understanding of Esri Enterprise architecture, including deployments, service definitions, distributed collaborations, enterprise data management, user access, permissions, and system integrations.
