Role overview
The Associate Director of Sustainability Policy will support the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB) board of directors and membership, while also assisting the Senior Director of Sustainability with NCBA policy and sustainability efforts. This position centers on project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration, with responsibility for helping guide working groups, task forces, and related initiatives that advance sustainability across the U.S. beef sector.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate projects and pilot efforts that help move sustainability initiatives forward in the U.S. beef industry.
- Help oversee USRSB working groups, task forces, and programs, converting activities and outputs into clear assessments and useful resources for members and the wider beef value chain.
- Draft agendas, reports, meeting minutes, calendar invites, and supporting materials for board and working group sessions.
- Arrange internal and external meeting logistics, including venue coordination, phone or video conferencing, presentation support, attendee scheduling, webinar setup, travel planning, and onsite needs.
- Support planning for the General Assembly, including site visits, save-the-date notices, presentation development, board materials, meeting materials, presenter coordination, registration, and related tasks.
- Assist with officer and director election processes.
- Review and help maintain policies, procedures, and governing documents.
- Create and deliver onboarding for new members and board directors.
- Process membership applications and keep the membership database current.
- Send new member materials and respond to inquiries by mail, email, and phone.
- Organize and maintain files, mailing lists, prospect lists, and timelines to support membership and revenue growth activities.
- Assist staff and leadership on other sustainability policy efforts, including work connected to the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Preferred or relevant study areas include Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Sustainable Development, Leadership, Business, or a related discipline.
- At least 4 years of experience is required.
- Project management experience is required.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required.
- Experience or familiarity with governance in a member-funded organization is preferred.
- A project management certification is preferred.
- The ideal candidate should bring strong collaboration, integrity, and professional ethics, and work well as a team contributor.
- Applicants should be resourceful, self-driven, motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- The role calls for sound judgment, composure, and the ability to work productively with internal teams and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with strong interpersonal ability.
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines are important.
Compensation and benefits
This is a salaried role paid at $85,000 to $90,000 per year. The position is full-time and exempt. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; paid vacation; a 401(k) with company match; life insurance; short-term disability; long-term disability; and sick time.
