Role overview

This opportunity is being shared on behalf of a partner employer, which will handle applications and all subsequent recruitment steps. The position is for an Associate Director, Digital Media in Australia, with a remote-friendly setup.

The role centers on leading performance-led digital media strategy and delivery for fast-growing restaurant and multi-location retail clients. You will guide multi-channel paid media efforts across platforms including Meta, Google, TikTok, Connected TV, and programmatic DSPs, with a strong focus on measurable outcomes, ongoing optimization, and business impact.

Alongside strategic ownership, this position includes people leadership responsibility for media buyers and close collaboration with clients and internal specialists. You will turn complex performance data into practical recommendations and persuasive stories that help shape decisions and campaign direction. The environment is energetic, collaborative, and highly analytical, with a strong emphasis on autonomy, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities

  • Direct the planning, launch, and optimization of cross-channel digital media campaigns spanning Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok, Connected TV, and programmatic DSP platforms.
  • Coach and supervise a small team of 2 to 3 digital media buyers, offering direction, quality control, and support for performance growth.
  • Own campaign execution across multiple client accounts, with attention to tracking accuracy, budget management, and scaling optimizations.
  • Work in partnership with clients, brand leads, analytics teams, creative teams, and media planners to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Convert media results into clear takeaways, recommendations, and strategic guidance for clients and internal teams.
  • Create and present in-depth performance reporting, using data-led storytelling to explain results and identify opportunities.
  • Keep refining media approaches through continual testing, learning, and adaptation to platform changes.
  • Make sure campaign delivery stays aligned with broader client business goals.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in digital media buying and performance marketing across Meta, Google Ads, and programmatic or CTV channels such as DV360, The Trade Desk, or Basis.
  • History of managing sizeable monthly media budgets, generally from $500K and above, across several brands or accounts.
  • Strong command of tracking and measurement, including Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking configuration.
  • Experience creating dashboards and reporting views with tools like Google Data Studio or Looker Studio.
  • Proven ability to guide and develop media buying or performance marketing teams.
  • Sharp analytical capability with the ability to turn raw data into useful insights and compelling client-facing narratives.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with confidence in customer-facing discussions.
  • Self-driven and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, remote-friendly setup.
  • Well organized, with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns and priorities at once.
  • Prior experience in restaurant, hospitality, or multi-location retail marketing would be an advantage.
