Job Overview
The role involves hands-on carpentry tasks essential to construction projects, including precise site and building layout, concrete work, wood blocking, and specialty carpentry duties. The position requires adapting to project-specific needs and maintaining high workmanship standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Expertly construct and dismantle concrete formwork using both custom-built and system formwork methods.
- Set and tie rebar, place welded wire mesh (WWM), poly layers, and prepare slabs for concrete pouring.
- Determine and establish precise grades and elevations with a builder’s level for concrete installations.
- Assemble scaffolding and ladders to enable safe construction above ground level.
- Install metal embeds, bolts, and casting accessories that integrate into concrete structures.
- Perform various carpentry and labor duties as required to support company operations.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, skid steers, and excavators safely and effectively.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to calculate necessary dimensions and material requirements for formwork or framing and other carpentry tasks.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols including personal protective equipment use, tool upkeep, and contribute to site safety and quality initiatives.
Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Work independently with minimal oversight.
- Communicate clearly and listen attentively.
- Competently and safely operate power tools and related equipment.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
- Engage in frequent physical activities such as squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, walking, and reaching above shoulder height.
- Work on uneven, slippery, or rough terrain.
- Endure various weather conditions including exposure to outdoor elements.
- Maintain a drug-free work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Between three to five years of experience in rough or form carpentry.
