About the role
Macpac Petone is seeking an Assistant Store Manager who can help drive store growth while leading from the shop floor. This is a hands-on position in a busy adventure retail environment with a strong team culture and a loyal customer base.
The role suits either an existing Assistant Store Manager or a Supervisor who is ready to step up. If you’ve managed teams of five or more people, enjoy visual merchandising, and are motivated by a fast-moving retail setting, this opportunity could be a strong fit.

What you’ll do
- Support the Store Manager in lifting sales performance and keeping the store running efficiently.
- Help create a positive, upbeat workplace and lead the team by example.
- Coach and train team members to improve service and sales results.
- Drive floor activity and support the team in meeting targets.
- Assist with visual merchandising, stock management, health and safety, and store security.
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in a management or supervisory role.
- Strong customer service standards and a willingness to lead from the front.
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and guide a team.
- Confidence in training, sales leadership, and performance delivery.
- Practical experience with merchandising, stock control, workplace safety, and security processes.
- A genuine interest in the outdoors or travel is preferred; prior knowledge of outdoor apparel and gear is helpful but not required.
Working pattern and offer
The roster runs from Tuesday to Saturday. The role includes a competitive salary, weekly pay, and the potential to earn bonuses based on performance.
