Job description
About the organisation
Single Homeless Project is a major homelessness charity in London, supporting more than 10,000 Londoners each year. The organisation focuses on preventing homelessness, offering safe accommodation, and helping people rebuild their lives and move towards a more stable future. Its approach is rooted in trust, relationship-building, and standing alongside people as they work through barriers that affect safety, stability, and opportunity.
The workplace culture is described as compassionate, committed, and progressive, with a strong emphasis on inclusion. The team environment is trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively working to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
About the role

The role sits within the organisation’s Rough Sleeping Outreach & Hub Service and is focused on bringing psychological support to people experiencing rough sleeping whose needs may have been overlooked, misunderstood, or unmet. Working closely with the resident Clinical Psychologist, you will help embed psychologically informed, trauma-informed, and compassionate practice across the service.
The position combines direct work with service development. You will support assessments, one-to-one interventions, group work, reflective practice, case discussions, and partnership working. The role also offers access to SHP’s wider Psychological Services, including clinical supervision and development opportunities that support growth in outreach-based psychological practice.

- Take part in reflective practice sessions and case discussions with colleagues.
- Help staff and clients navigate complex situations through practical psychological input.
- Build and maintain partnerships with other professionals and services.
- Use supervision, clear records, and safe practice consistently in day-to-day work.
- Support wider service development through a psychologically informed approach.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of trauma, mental health, multiple disadvantage, and the challenges faced by people who are rough sleeping.
- A compassionate, reflective, and resilient working style.
- Confidence in building trust with people who may be cautious about services.
- Ability to translate psychological ideas into practical and accessible support.
- Comfort working with complex needs, risk, and strengths in a real-world setting.
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong organisation, thoughtful record keeping, and commitment to safe working.
- Willingness to learn and develop through supervision.
