Assistant Merchandiser (Topshop)

Role overview

ASOS is recruiting an Assistant Merchandiser for the Topshop brand in London. Topshop and Topman are well-known British fashion labels with six decades of heritage. Based in London, the brands reach more than 2 million customers worldwide through the ASOS platform and contribute brand sales of approximately £200 million. Their purpose is to make fashion more accessible through creativity and innovation.

After the joint venture formed between ASOS and HEARTLAND in October 2024, ASOS is building a dedicated cross-functional team to support the next stage of growth for Topshop and Topman. The brands will continue to benefit from ASOS systems and support while operating with the independence and pace of standalone labels. Over the coming 12 months, the business will broaden both online and offline reach, including the launch of Topshop.com and new wholesale partnerships.

The merchandising team makes sure the right products are available in the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantities. Working alongside buying teams, the function plans and builds ranges while managing stock levels to support profit growth.

What you'll do

• Keep the merchandising department running smoothly on a daily basis.
• Build forecasts for sales and stock to support department sales targets and margin/profit goals.
• Track performance across the department, flagging both opportunities and areas of risk or loss.
• Partner with buying teams to create and refine range plans.
• Join trade meetings with senior leaders, including Heads of and Directors.
• Review department performance with a focus on lead times and overall trading results.
• Support the development of an MA by coaching and guiding their growth.
• Manage the WSSI and help drive trade plans.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about fashion, works well in a busy environment, and understands the preferences of the TOPSHOP/TOPMAN twenty-something customer. The role calls for practical merchandising experience, strong commercial judgement, and the confidence to take ownership of important business areas while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers.

• Previous experience as an Assistant Merchandiser or in a fashion retail merchandising team.
• Good awareness of youth culture and current trends, especially in relation to the TOPSHOP/TOPMAN customer.
• Strong organisation and clear communication skills across different levels of the business.
• Hands-on experience with weekly sales, stock, and intake management, plus the ability to contribute confidently in trade meetings.
• Advanced Excel and MS Office capability; familiarity with reporting tools is an advantage.
