Job description
About the Role
In this position within the Changi East Safety Division, you will take the lead in strengthening workers’ wellbeing and improving their day-to-day experience on site. The role centres on direct engagement with the construction workforce, capturing feedback from workers and stakeholders, and coordinating the actions needed to resolve concerns and drive improvements.
You will also help design and implement engagement platforms that build trust with the workforce. In addition, you will run engagement sessions, oversee feedback channels, and manage follow-up work with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, organise and run worker engagement activities while maintaining open, safe and accessible channels for workers to share feedback.
- Establish strong working relationships with workers through regular, respectful, empathetic and culturally aware communication.
- Gather, review and consolidate feedback from workers on safety, welfare, and their living and working conditions to surface areas for improvement.
- Work with relevant parties, including contractors and dormitory operators, to communicate feedback and monitor action items through to completion, keeping suitable records for audit requirements.
- Check whether agreed actions have been effective, including following up with workers directly where needed to confirm results.
- Coordinate with outside organisations such as NGOs and government agencies to support outreach efforts, including welfare talks and engagement programmes.
- Assist in planning and delivering welfare initiatives and engagement events that support workers’ wellbeing.
- Draft reports, summaries and presentation slides covering engagement results, feedback patterns and case progress for management.
- Take on other related duties connected to workforce engagement, welfare and community-building as required.
Requirements
- A degree in any field; candidates with experience in administration, operations or contractor management will have an added advantage.
- Experience handling a construction workforce or another large frontline workforce is beneficial.
- Strong people skills and clear communication abilities, with confidence in engaging individuals from varied backgrounds.
- Willingness to interact with workers on site in an active operational setting.
- A patient, caring and approachable manner, with a sincere interest in worker wellbeing.
- Good organisational ability and strong attention to detail, with the capacity to juggle several issues and stakeholders at the same time.
- Competence in preparing reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Self-motivated, able to work on your own, and also contribute effectively as part of a team.
- This is a contract role.
