Role Overview
The Assistant Manager, Regulatory - Americas is responsible for overseeing regulatory work across North, Central and South America. The role focuses on making sure cosmetic products meet the relevant legal and technical requirements in the region, including U.S. federal and state cosmetic rules, packaging standards, reporting obligations, and other applicable compliance demands. This position plays an important part in supporting compliant launches, correct product labelling, and prompt handling of post-market and regulatory update needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee regulatory compliance for cosmetics sold in the Americas, covering formula assessments, packaging review, and claim verification.
- Coordinate and trigger testing needed for regional compliance together with the wider regulatory function.
- Manage product registration work across the Americas, including document follow-ups, retailer coordination, and status tracking.
- Approve artwork for U.S. markets.
- Handle PIF documentation and CPSRs.
- Review formulas for compliance with requirements in the Americas.
- Gather packaging data for global EPR reporting.
- Own EPR reporting for the United States.
- Track legislative changes in the U.S. at federal and state level, interpret new developments, and share business impact insights.
- Manage additional compliance and reporting activities for products, packaging, or finished goods in the region, such as CARB and ingredient tonnage tracking.
- Support onboarding for new markets and retailers across the Americas.
- Join launch meetings, monitor project progress, and keep internal teams informed.
- Lead post-market surveillance activities, including maintenance of safety records and escalation steps in line with cosmetovigilance processes.
- Work closely with NPD, Product Development, and Marketing to ensure launches meet compliance requirements.
- Partner with the Regional GM and commercial teams on launch planning, product compliance, and registration matters.
Requirements
- Strong background in the makeup and cosmetics space, with solid practical knowledge of relevant regulations.
- At least 3 to 4 years of experience in cosmetic regulatory affairs.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, plus Adobe; experience with social media or web platforms is a bonus.
- Excellent eye for detail and an analytical approach to work.
- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage several priorities at once.
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and perform in a fast-moving environment.
- A continuous-improvement mindset, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and suggesting practical solutions.
- Good emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, empathy, and effective communication.
- Capable of working both independently and as a dependable team contributor.
- Professional, adaptable, and a strong written and verbal communicator.
- Confident presenter who can speak to stakeholders at different levels of the business.
- Willing to support occasional early-morning or late-evening calls to accommodate global operations.
