Job description
Role Overview
Bin Arbaid Holding is looking for an Assistant Manager to oversee industrial cleaning activities in Al Khor, Qatar. This role focuses on leading field operations, ensuring safety and quality, and coordinating projects across oil & gas and petrochemical facilities.
Core Responsibilities
You will manage day-to-day industrial cleaning work, guide teams, and keep projects running efficiently from planning through closure.
- Coordinate industrial cleaning assignments such as tank cleaning, sludge removal, heat exchanger cleaning, pipeline flushing, and confined space entry tasks.
- Make sure all work follows HSE requirements, ISO standards, and applicable local regulations.
- Track daily site activity, assign manpower effectively, and oversee the use of equipment such as hydro jetting systems, super sucker units, and vacuum trucks.
- Advise teams on the right cleaning methods for storage tanks, separators, reactors, boilers, and heat exchangers.
- Assess sludge characteristics and suggest safe disposal or recycling approaches.
- Help resolve technical issues that arise during cleaning jobs in oil & gas and petrochemical plants.
- Work with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to keep execution smooth and compliant.
- Prepare technical proposals, job scopes, and cost estimates for tenders and ongoing work.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business.
- Coach supervisors, technicians, and operators on safe and productive work practices.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety drills, and performance reviews.
- Encourage continuous improvement and strong operational standards across the team.
- Compile daily progress updates, incident reports, and project handover/closure documents.
- Monitor KPIs including turnaround time, resource efficiency, and safety compliance.
- Assist management with CAPEX/OPEX planning and budgeting.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a similar field is required.
- Applicants should have 6 to 8 years of experience in industrial cleaning or waste management.
- At least 2 to 3 years of that experience should be in a supervisory or assistant managerial capacity.
- Hands-on understanding of tank cleaning, sludge removal, heat exchanger cleaning, and pipeline descaling is important.
- Working knowledge of hydro jetting, super sucker systems, vacuum trucks, and chemical cleaning methods is expected.
- Experience with oil & gas and petrochemical plant operations in the GCC is needed.
- Familiarity with HSE rules, confined space entry, and hazardous waste handling is required.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, and waste management systems is also necessary.
- Strong communication, leadership, and client management abilities are essential.
Preferred Certifications
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification in health and safety
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue certification
- Awareness of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
