Assistant Manager - Ecommerce Commercial

Role Overview

This position supports ecommerce commercial and finance operations, with responsibility for profitability, working capital, financial controls, reconciliations, and audit readiness across online channels.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of ecommerce revenue and EBITDA performance, and track results across marketplaces, direct-to-consumer channels, and quick commerce platforms.
• Review pricing and discounting actions against budget assumptions to help protect margins.
• Spot revenue and category expansion opportunities across platforms and product lines.
• Track debtor ageing, claims, and settlement cycles with ecommerce partners.
• Ensure collections happen on time and that marketplace reconciliations are completed accurately.
• Monitor open receivables, returns, and disputes, and flag credit risks early.
• Study the ecommerce profit and loss statement to identify places where margin is being lost.
• Keep a close watch on discounts, commissions, logistics charges, and promotional spending.
• Support cost-reduction initiatives in fulfilment and marketing to improve contribution margins.
• Work with internal teams to strengthen business profitability.
• Maintain compliance with SOPs, financial policies, and audit expectations.
• Carry out periodic general ledger checks for items such as discounts, returns, and provisions.
• Review claims submitted by ecommerce partners, including penalties and discount-related claims.
• Ensure provisions for returns, discounts, and promotions are booked correctly and cleared within required timelines.
• Perform platform and customer reconciliations and obtain balance confirmations where needed.
• Support internal and external audits by maintaining complete and accurate records.
• Resolve differences with ecommerce marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra.
• Help standardize contracts and commercial terms.

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred qualifications include CA or an MBA in Finance. The ideal candidate should have 4 to 8 years of experience in ecommerce finance, commercial operations, or business finance, with a strong grasp of marketplace economics and ecommerce P&L. Experience in retail, fashion, or consumer businesses is preferred.
