Job description

Opportunity Overview

This internal vacancy offers an experienced Senior the chance to move into an Assistant Manager position within the Christchurch Business Advisory Services team. It is designed for someone who is ready to broaden their scope, take on greater influence, and help shape the next stage of the team’s growth.

Why This Role Stands Out

The organisation places strong emphasis on developing its people internally. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be recognised for your progression, step into leadership, and continue building your professional capabilities. You will also work alongside a collaborative, high-performing group that values innovation, shared achievement, and ongoing learning.

Core Accountabilities

As an Assistant Manager, you will be expected to deliver dependable accounting and advisory support to a varied client portfolio. You will own client relationships and grow into a trusted point of contact, while also guiding and supporting team members as the BAS practice expands. The role includes involvement in workflow coordination, review activities, team capability building, and wider advisory assignments that help clients pursue durable growth.

This is a genuine leadership step-up where your initiative, ideas, and judgement will have real impact.

About the Ideal Candidate

You should already have a strong grounding in Business Advisory Services, or a similar CA environment, and be ready to take the next step in your career. The role is suited to someone who holds, or is close to completing, a CA or CPA qualification and can apply that knowledge confidently in practice.

We are looking for a professional who is comfortable partnering with clients on performance, strategy, and business improvement. Experience with cloud accounting systems is important, along with strong organisation, careful attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities. A proactive approach and a genuine interest in helping both clients and colleagues develop are essential.

Team Culture

The team environment is collaborative and supportive, with a clear focus on efficiency, flexibility, wellbeing, and career development. Leaders are approachable and invested in helping people progress, and there is a strong culture of recognising effort, sharing success, and creating pathways for growth.

Additional Information

This opportunity is restricted to current internal applicants only. The closing time for applications is 5:00pm on Wednesday 24 June.
