About the Role

PUMA is hiring an Art Director for its Creative Services internal agency based in Boston. This role is centered on visual storytelling and requires a strong eye for art direction, video, and digital content. The ideal person will bring a deep interest in art, culture, streetwear, and fashion, along with a collaborative, ambitious mindset and a passion for building standout brand work.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Associate Creative Director, planners, content creators, and business teams to shape both large-scale and smaller production campaigns.
  • Create and adapt ideas across marketing touchpoints, including PR, social, paid media, e-commerce, in-store, and related channels.
  • Contribute as a key voice in brainstorming sessions within Creative Services and across departments.
  • Review briefs with Creative Services senior leadership and help align marketing campaigns and communication initiatives.
  • Direct creative production by identifying, briefing, and coordinating with external specialists such as photographers, illustrators, animators, production vendors, and independent creators.
  • Work with leadership and producers to plan and execute photo shoots and other production work, including coordination with outside creative partners.
  • Help external partners develop concepts and translate them into finished creative output.
  • Maintain and refine detailed creative guidelines that support regional execution of global concepts.
  • Review production design work for e-commerce and provide actionable feedback on final assets.
  • Support the post-production process for asset selection and retouching in collaboration with leadership.
  • Lead by example within Creative Services while helping guide, develop, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong digital-first creative ability with advanced proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge, and Acrobat on Mac.
  • Ability to develop proof-of-concept work for still photography, GIFs, and video content.
  • Excellent design instincts and practical knowledge of digital design principles.
  • Capability to take projects from early concept through design development, production, and post-production.
  • Solid grasp of creative process, color theory, typography, interactive design, and video storytelling.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to collaborate with senior leaders on creative and marketing strategy.
  • Hands-on experience directing studio and location photo shoots under tight deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a diverse, collaborative team.
  • Leadership qualities with experience motivating, managing, and mentoring others.
  • Background in footwear, athletic, or apparel work is considered an advantage.
