Role overview
The Surgical Area Manager will act as the main link between the company and key customers in the surgical products space. The position focuses on general and laparoscopic surgery and covers hospitals across the Midlands and the West of Ireland.
What you will do
- Drive sales activity by presenting products, carrying out demonstrations, and winning orders.
- Use your own initiative to spot business opportunities and turn them into revenue.
- Build strong, long-term partnerships with important customers.
- Meet quarterly and annual sales targets and plans.
- Support customers with clinical, technical, and commercial questions.
- Plan and execute business activities across the assigned territory.
- Identify new business prospects and assess possible new clients and market segments.
- Collect, review, and interpret information on the market and competitors.
- Share customer feedback, campaign results, and market changes, along with ideas to strengthen product and company performance.
- Roll out new product launches and other company initiatives within the territory.
- Attend relevant conferences and meetings.
Experience and skills needed
- At least 5 years of experience in clinical sales and/or commercial sales, ideally in healthcare or FMCG.
- Experience selling medical devices is an advantage, though not mandatory.
- Clinical exposure would be beneficial.
- Comfort working in operating theatre environments.
- Strong sales closing ability and a target-focused mindset.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to represent the company positively.
- Strong organisation and planning abilities, along with self-motivation and initiative.
- Commercial awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence others and maintain customer relationships.
- Relevant education and hands-on experience for working with complex medical device technologies in a clinical setting.
- Outgoing, persuasive personality with strong relationship-building skills.
- Good working knowledge of standard business computer tools and applications.
- Full driving licence.
