Job description
About Supplyhaus
Supplyhaus, part of the McNab Group, is reshaping the way construction supply works. The business focuses on supplying and installing façade, joinery and steel solutions, along with high-quality building products backed by practical builder knowledge.
About the Role
Supplyhaus Facades is looking for an Architectural Metalwork Draftsperson to help deliver detailed design documentation for a growing portfolio of façade and architectural metalwork projects in Brisbane, Queensland.
The position centres on creating accurate 2D and 3D concept drawings as well as shop drawings for a broad range of aluminium and architectural metalwork items. Project scope can include balustrades and stair balustrades, unitised perforated carpark screens, batten screens, sunhoods, sunblades, louvres, custom storage lockers, trellis features and custom cladding panels.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare 2D and 3D concept drawings for aluminium metalwork package items based on architectural documentation for client presentations and engineering review.
- Create general arrangement and shop drawings for the full aluminium metalwork scope.
- Define the engineering scope, coordinate with external structural engineers, and oversee their involvement across projects.
- Spot items that require site measurements, such as staircase balustrades, and manage the measurement process so the drawings stay current and accurate.
- Check and QA external fabrication drawings to make sure they match the shop drawings and project requirements.
- Carry out detailed fabrication checks to maintain accuracy, catch issues early, and resolve design problems before fabrication begins.
- Work closely with the façade team, drafters, design coordinators, project managers and project coordinators to keep delivery running smoothly.
About You
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, comfortable in a busy environment, open to learning, and eager to contribute to a positive team culture.
Requirements
- Strong product knowledge, including a good grasp of current fabrication and installation methods used in the industry.
- Advanced capability in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, which are essential for this position.
- Ability to manage priorities and work well with others to meet project milestones.
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards such as AS1170.1 and AS1428.1.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to technical design challenges.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify mistakes before fabrication begins.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills for working with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Drive to grow and contribute in a fast-moving environment.
