Job description

Role overview

Aldar Education is looking for a strong Arabic and Islamic Teacher for Abdulla Bin Otaiba Charter School in Abu Dhabi, with the role due to begin in the 2026/27 academic year. The school follows an American curriculum and serves a mixed-gender primary community in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi. The school aims for high standards, creates rich learning experiences, and promotes a community built around collaboration, leadership, and creativity.

Key responsibilities

The teacher is expected to deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that help every child progress and achieve strong outcomes. The role involves building positive relationships across the school community, using resources effectively, and contributing to improved learning and achievement.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan lessons that align with curriculum expectations.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and staff at all levels.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with the wider school community.
  • Partner with parents to support student happiness and academic success.
  • Coordinate with support staff where needed to aid student development.

Teaching and learning duties

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the curriculum.
  • Set up the classroom, learning materials, and displays to create a positive learning environment.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that meet the needs of mixed-ability learners.
  • Use energetic and imaginative teaching methods to motivate pupils.
  • Observe, assess, and reflect on student learning, then adjust planning and classroom practice accordingly.
  • Work with specialists such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required.
  • Embed the school’s learner and teacher DNA language and expectations across the curriculum.

Assessment and data responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the progress of the assigned class.
  • Record and track student development using Target Tracker.
  • Use assessment data to guide planning, support, and intervention.
  • Share progress updates with parents and carers during conferences and other meetings.

Behaviour and classroom management

  • Follow the school’s behaviour policy consistently.
  • Manage classrooms in ways that inspire, challenge, and support students’ needs.
  • Maintain positive pupil relationships while exercising appropriate authority when needed.
  • Model the values, attitudes, and behaviour expected of students.
  • Set high expectations for conduct, self-control, and independence.
  • Carry out duties as assigned in line with school policy.

Wider professional responsibilities

  • Contribute to curriculum action groups, including planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
  • Help organise and take part in school events, trips, and activities, including some held in the evening or at weekends.
  • Use school systems such as CPOMS to communicate appropriately with parents and carers about progress and well-being.
  • Play a positive role in the wider life, culture, and ethos of the school.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Arabic Education or Islamic Education, or a related degree with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification. The role requires 1 to 2 years of teaching experience in Arabic and Islamic studies.

Additional requirements

Candidates should have experience teaching students whose first language is not English. They should show a strong commitment to whole-child education, professionalism, and student well-being. Recent involvement in extracurricular activities is expected. Applicants must respect all members of the school community regardless of position, gender, age, or ethnic background. A positive, solution-oriented approach is important. A clean enhanced DBS or police check is required. The successful candidate must reside in the same emirate as the assigned school.

What the school offers

Aldar Education describes itself as a network of innovative, child-centred schools in the UAE serving more than 33,000 students. The organisation offers an attractive compensation package and places strong emphasis on professional growth, coaching, and training for staff.
