Role overview

This opportunity is being shared on behalf of a partner organization, which will handle all applications and follow-up steps. The hiring partner is seeking an Application Specialist located in the United States.

This is a strong fit for an experienced application support professional who can bring technical depth to essential enterprise systems in a federal IT setting. In this role, you will act as a go-to expert for business-critical applications, helping keep them stable, usable, and ready for day-to-day operations while assisting end users and technical teams. You will work closely with service desk staff, engineers, and government stakeholders to solve difficult issues, support releases and deployments, and strengthen documentation and knowledge sharing across the organization. The position blends troubleshooting, application administration, documentation, and training, and is ideal for someone who enjoys resolving complex technical problems while delivering high-quality support.

You will be part of a collaborative team environment that emphasizes continuous learning, reliable service delivery, and operational excellence.

Key accountabilities

  • Act as a subject matter resource and provide advanced support for enterprise applications, including systems such as SAP, Salesforce, and ArcGIS.
  • Investigate and resolve complicated application problems, including incidents, service requests, and problem tickets.
  • Handle application administration tasks such as configuration, access control, and day-to-day operational support.
  • Support onboarding, testing, release coordination, and deployment efforts to help ensure smooth implementation.
  • Create, update, and improve knowledge base articles, user instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Lead training and knowledge-transfer sessions for Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams to strengthen service desk capability.
  • Partner with technical teams and federal stakeholders to address application issues and drive service improvements.

Required experience and qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting enterprise business applications in an IT environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience with at least one enterprise platform such as SAP, Salesforce, or ArcGIS.
  • Background in application administration, configuration, user management, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, communication skills, and documentation skills.
  • Comfort working with technical teams and business stakeholders in a structured environment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, GIS, or a related field is preferred.
  • Platform-specific certifications and prior federal IT support experience are considered valuable advantages.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Benefits and work environment

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Healthcare coverage beginning on the first day of employment.
  • Paid training and ongoing professional development support.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • A collaborative culture with attention to work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to contribute to high-impact federal technology programs.
  • Career advancement potential within a growing organization.
