Job description

About Quantium

Quantium is an international data science and artificial intelligence company founded in Australia in 2002. With a team of more than 1,200 people working across 14 locations, the business combines product and consulting expertise to help organisations extract practical value from data and analytics. Quantium works with major global companies to support smarter decision-making.

About the Financial Services Consulting team

The Financial Services Consulting practice works with banks, insurers, superannuation funds and wealth managers in Australia to convert data into actionable decisions. The team acts as an embedded analytics partner using an AI-first delivery approach, helping clients shift from intuition-led decisions to evidence-led decisions. The core focus is insurance, with growing activity in banking, superannuation and wealth.

Role overview

As an Analyst, you will support client projects from beginning to end: defining the business question, carrying out the analysis, and turning the results into insights that can be acted on. You will work closely with senior analysts who will coach and support you, and you will be expected to use AI as a daily productivity tool from the start. Quantium values potential and learning ability as much as current skill level. The strongest candidates are quick learners, comfortable working with clients early, and able to use AI thoughtfully rather than accepting outputs without review.

This is a consulting analytics position rather than an internal analytics role. The work is project-based, client-facing and often time-sensitive. Strong judgement and the ability to shape the problem are more important than simply writing large amounts of code.

What you will do

  • Take part in analytics projects from data preparation and exploration through to insight generation and presentation.
  • Turn vague client problems into structured analytical plans and hypotheses, instead of waiting for a fully specified request.
  • Apply statistical, data science and AI-enabled techniques to choose the most suitable method for each question.
  • Use AI tools to speed up delivery while carefully checking for errors, misalignment or hidden assumptions.
  • Present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders using clear storytelling, visuals and practical recommendations.
  • Maintain quality standards and create clear, reusable documentation for methods and outputs.
  • Actively ask for feedback and use it to grow your technical, domain and consulting skills.
  • Deliver analytical outputs on schedule and in line with quality expectations, always connecting work to business impact.
  • Identify opportunities to increase value within existing client engagements.

What you will bring

  • About 1 to 3 years of commercial experience in an analytics or data-focused role.
  • Working knowledge of data analytics tools and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python and visualisation platforms.
  • A strong tendency to identify the real business question and organise messy problems even when the brief is unclear.
  • The ability to move quickly and carefully in a changing environment while still maintaining quality.
  • Regular, practical use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot beyond the experimentation stage.
  • A willingness to learn from senior analysts and improve through feedback.

Candidate profile

Quantium encourages applications from people who may not match every requirement exactly. The company is looking for individuals with strong problem-solving ability, broad thinking and a practical approach to how they work.

What the experience can look like

Working at Quantium gives you the chance to tackle difficult problems with rigour, precision and curiosity. At the same time, you will be encouraged to think broadly, challenge assumptions and stretch your problem-solving ability.

Why join Quantium

  • Shape your own path: many team members move across teams or offices, and the company supports career ownership.
  • Be part of a like-minded community: connect with a diverse group of people with interests ranging from food and dogs to books and running.
  • Make a meaningful contribution: your work can have an impact regardless of your level or title.

Benefits

  • Flexible working arrangements that support work-life balance, including hybrid and flexible options.
  • Ongoing learning through an Analytics Community focused on growth, collaboration, thought leadership and technical excellence.
  • The chance to work away from your usual home location for up to 2 months each year.
