Job description

Role overview

Amentum, a major contractor supporting government operations, is hiring an Aircraft Load Planner to validate aircraft load plans for the U.S. military and help create shipment plans for air movements from CONUS to OCONUS, as well as between OCONUS locations and other sites.

What you will do

  • Confirm that aircraft cargo, baggage, and passenger loading complies with safety rules and aircraft loading restrictions.
  • Provide planning input and guidance to support estimates for selecting the right aircraft type for a given load.
  • Examine aircraft weight-and-balance documentation and cargo manifests.
  • Calculate how much cargo, passengers, or troops should be loaded and decide where they should be positioned inside the aircraft.
  • Work out load distribution and overall cargo balance.
  • Determine the weight assigned to each compartment or station while factoring in fuel load, structural limits, and required emergency equipment.
  • Use the military Automated Air Load Planning System (AALPS) and Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES) to build load plans for USAF cargo aircraft.
  • Work with U.S. Army units and Air Force Loadmasters to make sure cargo is correctly loaded onto the aircraft.

Required background and experience

Candidates need at least 2 years of experience using the Automated Air Load Planning System (AALPS) and/or ICODES. Prior ICODES experience is preferred. They must also have at least 2 years of experience using the Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) and the Global Decision Support System II (GDSS II). A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.

Other requirements

  • Ability to work toward obtaining and keeping DoD HAZMAT Inspector certification.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with military and civilian personnel.
  • Good decision-making skills when balancing competing priorities.
  • Careful attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Self-directed working style with the ability to function without constant supervision for periods of time.

Work environment

The assignment may involve remote and uncomfortable living and working conditions. The role can include long working hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions, and the need to move on short notice under difficult circumstances. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Safety, quality, and procedure compliance

All employees are expected to support Amentum's safety culture by helping maintain a safe workplace, completing required training, taking part in emergency response duties when assigned, and serving on safety committees or teams when needed. Employees must also follow the company's quality standards, customer satisfaction requirements, and all relevant quality management documents and customer contract obligations. In addition, job duties must be carried out in line with all applicable operational, safety, quality, and environmental procedures, policies, and plans.
