Job description
About the Employer
Saputo is a global dairy leader that focuses on making quality products, backing its people, and contributing to communities. The organisation promotes an inclusive workplace where employees are encouraged to grow and make meaningful contributions.
Location and Lifestyle
This opportunity is based in Rochester, Victoria, a regional area known for its balance of work and lifestyle. The surrounding district offers access to historic towns, river destinations, and a range of recreational activities, including Bendigo and Echuca nearby.
About AG Warehouse
AG Warehouse is one of Australia’s largest independent rural retail groups, with more than 30 locations across Victoria, Tasmania, and Southern New South Wales. Supported by Saputo Dairy Australia, it serves agricultural customers across cropping, dairy, livestock, and lifestyle sectors.
Role Overview
AG Warehouse is looking for an experienced Agronomist to join the Rochester team and work alongside a long-serving senior agronomist. This is a practical, field-based position focused on providing dependable on-farm advice across fertiliser, pasture, and broadacre cropping. The role also includes building customer relationships and gradually developing your own client base while being introduced to existing customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide agronomic guidance tailored to each client’s production objectives.
- Carry out farm visits and recommend solutions for fertiliser, pasture, and broadacre cropping.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with both established and new customers.
- Keep up to date with agronomy trends, new technologies, and product changes.
- Contribute to growing and shaping the agronomy business as an important team member.
About You
The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of agronomy experience, preferably in pasture and/or broadacre systems, along with a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or a related area. You should have strong technical understanding, practical field experience, and confident communication and relationship-building skills. Experience with mentoring or supporting a junior agronomist is considered an advantage.
What’s on Offer
The role comes with a competitive salary package and company vehicle, along with a phone, computer, iPad, and suitable agronomy software. You will be part of a supportive, values-driven team and gain access to broader networking and resources through the AG Warehouse agronomy team and AGLINK, Australia’s largest independent retail and agronomy group. Ongoing career development and training are also available, along with the opportunity to make a positive impact in a strong agricultural region.
Additional Information
AG Warehouse is an equal opportunity employer. The business emphasises collaboration, career growth, and meaningful customer relationships.
