Job Summary
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking non-tenure-track Lecturers for its College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education. Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering classroom instruction, creating course materials, assessing student work, and fulfilling other duties related to their assigned courses and teaching modalities. Opportunities may arise in various departments including Anthropology, Applied Communications, Art and Design, Education, English, History, Mass Communications, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Rhetoric and Writing, the School of Public Affairs, Sociology, Theatre, and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct classes as per the schedule, ensuring advance notification and arrangements for any absences.
- Maintain accessibility to students via email, phone, or scheduled office hours, providing additional appointment times as needed.
- Develop and distribute course syllabi according to university guidelines and adhere to the final exam schedule.
- Keep accurate student academic records and submit final grades and other required information promptly.
- Uphold student information confidentiality, sharing it only within established university protocols.
- Evaluate students based strictly on academic merit and address student inquiries or grade appeals in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all university policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required.
- A Master's degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Prior experience teaching at the college level is advantageous.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in navigating learning management systems like Blackboard and utilizing Google Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management capabilities.
- Effective record-keeping abilities.
Additional Information
This is a fixed-term position with less than an annual appointment. Sponsorship is not available. The salary will be determined based on the candidate's education and experience. Applicants must possess legal authorization to work in the United States by their first day of employment.
