Role overview
Elmhurst University is hiring an adjunct faculty member to teach BIO 107 Human Anatomy & Physiology I at the undergraduate level. The course focuses on the structure and function of the human body and the biological principles that support it. It is intended for students in nursing, physical education, and health sciences and does not count toward a biology major or minor. The course includes a lab component with a virtual dissection table.
Course details
This is a standard 1.0 credit course worth 4 semester hours. The position is classified as exempt. The compensation range is $3,800 to $4,000 per course, and new part-time faculty begin at $3,800 at Adjunct Level 1.
Work arrangement
This role is not eligible for remote work. The scheduled delivery format is hybrid, with in-person lab sessions and asynchronous video lectures provided for students.
Key duties
- Teach using course materials, assessments, activities, and a Blackboard course shell that are already standardized across all sections.
- Complete course planning and upload all required materials to Blackboard before the first class meeting.
- Attend every scheduled class session, including the final exam period, and provide office hours for student support.
- Track student progress, evaluate assignments, and post grades promptly in Blackboard.
- Submit midterm and final grades to the university by the deadlines set by the institution.
- Finish required faculty training, including cybersecurity training, within the semester and by the assigned due dates.

Qualification summary
Applicants must have at least a master’s degree in biology or a closely related discipline and must show solid knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Prior experience teaching undergraduate students is preferred.
Working conditions
The work is primarily indoors with little exposure to outdoor weather. The role is generally sedentary and may require long periods of sitting, along with speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication. It also involves reading materials and screens, repetitive fine motor tasks, and occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or moving items up to 15 pounds.
