Job description
Role overview
MathWorks is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join its Galway office and support the continued growth of the EMEA Shared Sales and Services Center. This position is part of the Finance function and is focused on accurate, timely handling of supplier invoices and payments across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The role is an important part of the procure-to-pay process and contributes to internal controls, compliance, and month-end close activities for several EMEA entities. You will collaborate with colleagues in Accounting, Treasury, Tax, and Procurement, along with suppliers and internal teams, to solve issues, assist with closing activities, and help improve and automate AP processes as the operation scales and standardizes across the region.
MathWorks emphasizes growth, inclusion, initiative, collaboration, shared success, and high performance.
Responsibilities
- Handle supplier invoice and payment processing with accuracy, proper approval flow, and on-time completion.
- Work with Accounting, Treasury, and Tax teams to confirm correct general ledger coding, VAT handling, and transaction legitimacy.
- Address invoice, payment, and vendor questions raised by internal teams and external suppliers.
- Support month-end close tasks such as AP reconciliations, accruals, audit support files, and reporting of key metrics.
- Follow and reinforce internal controls that support audit readiness and compliance obligations.
- Contribute to system testing, troubleshooting, and process enhancements that reduce manual work and increase automation.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree is mandatory.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in accounts payable.
- Background in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail, with work that is easy to audit.
- Ability to juggle several tasks at once and consistently meet deadlines.
