Job description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for running the complete accounts payable operation from start to finish. The role focuses on making sure supplier payments are processed on time, financial controls remain strong, and all work stays aligned with internal procedures and applicable regulations. A key part of the job is also improving efficiency and supporting strong team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire accounts payable workflow, covering invoice receipt, validation, approvals, and payment execution.
- Make sure vendors are paid accurately and within the agreed payment terms.
- Handle difficult vendor questions, mismatches, and payment-related disputes.
- Track accounts payable ageing and understand its effect on cash flow.
- Take ownership of AP-related month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and reporting.
- Improve internal controls, policies, and procedures so that compliance requirements are consistently met.
- Spot opportunities to streamline work and introduce automation where practical.
- Oversee vendor administration, including service performance and adherence to contract terms.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documents and explaining AP transactions and processes.
- Lead, support, coach, and develop the accounts payable team.
Qualifications and Experience
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline, along with 8 to 10 years of experience in accounts payable or broader accounting roles. The ideal candidate should have prior exposure to leading teams and managing stakeholders. A solid understanding of ERP platforms and financial control frameworks is essential. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CMA are preferred.
