Job description

Overview

This accounting internship is designed for students or emerging professionals who want practical exposure to day-to-day finance operations. It provides direct experience in core accounting activities such as bookkeeping, financial statement support, reporting, and compliance work. Interns will collaborate with experienced accountants, take part in live assignments, and develop both technical and workplace skills in a professional setting.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the preparation of financial statements and related reports.
  • Help manage bookkeeping tasks, including invoices and expense documentation.
  • Check and match bank statements to keep records accurate.
  • Maintain financial records, files, and databases in an organised manner.
  • Assist with audit preparation by compiling supporting documents.
  • Contribute to tax return preparation and compliance submissions.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Gather, organise, and review financial data for management use.
  • Coordinate with different teams to collect required financial information.
  • Use accounting tools and software relevant to the role.
  • Carry out administrative support tasks for the accounting team.
  • Join team discussions and share ideas for improving processes.
  • Assist with payroll preparation and associated paperwork.
  • Keep up to date with accounting rules and industry practices.
  • Build professional connections within the finance environment.

Requirements

  • You should be studying Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline.
  • Have a basic understanding of accounting concepts and common practices.
  • Be comfortable using Microsoft Excel and entry-level accounting software.
  • Bring strong numerical reasoning and analytical ability.
  • Communicate clearly in both written and spoken form.
  • Be careful with details and stay well organised.
  • Be able to work on your own as well as with a team.
  • Previous exposure through an internship or part-time office/finance role will be an advantage.
  • Show initiative and a genuine willingness to learn.
  • Be able to manage time well and handle several tasks at once.
  • Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements is helpful.
  • Be familiar with accounting terms and standard procedures.
  • Adapt well to a busy and changing work environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling financial information.
  • Be open to feedback and able to apply it constructively.
  • Be available for at least 15 to 20 hours per week.
